Abstract: In contemporary Romanian, especially in the language of journalists, in advertising and in spoken language, there is a tendency to alter the standard form of phraseologisms with the aim of producing humor, irony, sarcasm, wordplay, and similar effects. In the deconstructed variants, the original phraseological form is revealed, and the new expressions represent manifestations of intertextuality under the influence of creativity.
Phraseological alterations or derailments are made consciously by the speaker through various mechanisms, the most common being phraseological substitution and expansion.
The article approaches, from a semantic, stylistic and pragmatic perspective, various deviant phrasemes, originating both from the inventory of established idiomatic expressions and from textemes. The circulation and frequency of these constructions demonstrate the variable nature of the language and the tendency towards linguistic creativity of speakers.
Keywords: phraseological expressions, deconstruction, linguistic creativity, intertextuality, textem.
